Police foils timber smuggling bid in Kunzar; Vehicle and 10 logs of timber seized

SRINAGAR, Mar 24: Police foiled a bid of timber smuggling and seized illicit timber and a Tata Mobile vehicle, during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday in Pinjoora village of Kunzer in Northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Official sources told CNS, after receiving specific inputs that some smugglers were trying to transport illicit timber from Tangmarg, police established a naka near Pinjoora village of Kunzer and intercepted a vehicle (TATA Mobile) without number plates.
They said, “On noticing the naka party waiting, the vehicle stopped at a distance and driver of the vehicle along with another accomplice fled from the spot taking the advantage of dark.”
On searching the vehicle it was found loaded with 10 logs of timber, being illegally transported, sources said adding that the smugglers were taking the advantage of advisories issued by the government, in view of coronavirus threat.
The Vehicle along with illicit timber was seized and a case regarding the matter was registered in Police Station Kunzer and a lookout for the owner and the driver of the vehicle, besides the smugglers involved in the criminal activity was initiated. (CNS)
