NEW DELHI, Mar 24: Only 15 cases are listed before two Benches of the Supreme Court for hearing through video conferencing on Wednesday, five of which are criminal cases by the accused from Maharashtra alone.
The second Bench may pick up five other cases out of 11 listed for mentioning before its presiding judge L Nageshwara rao over his residence landline phone between 1030 and 11 to claim extreme urgency. Both the Benches will assemble at 11.15 AM instead of the regular sitting from 1030 AM.
The first Bench comprises Dr Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice Surya Kant while the second judge in the other Bench is Justice Aniruddha Bose.
This will be the second hearing through video conferencing since after the first trial on Monday by Chief Justice of India Sharad Bobde by sitting with Justice Chandrachud to hear three cases. Justice Chandrachud heads the committee for electronic hearing.
The concerned advocates-on-record have been provided the video conferencing links, with a warning that the link sent on emails will be automatically deactivated if shared with anybody. Under the new arrangement, the lawyers will address the court through the link on their personal desktop/laptop/mobile device or from the mediation centre provided in the court building.
