PM forms trust for donations for corona relief

NEW DELHI, Mar 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday set up a national public charitable trust under his chairmanship to invite liberal donations to provide relief to those affected by COVID-19 pandemic and deal with any kind of emergency or distress situation.
Setting up the Prime Minister's Citizen assistance and relief in Emergency Situation Fund (PM CARES Fund), he said distress situations, whether natural or otherwise, demand expeditious and collective action to alleviate the sufferings of those affected by building capacities for quick emergency response and effective community resilience.
He said he always believed and shown in actions that public participation is the most effective way to mitigate any issue and this is yet another example. Besides him, the trustees of the fund are ex-officio defence, home and finance ministers.
The PMO said citizens and organisations can go to the website pmindia.gov.in and donate to PM CARES Fund using following details:
