6 houses damaged in landslide

SRINAGAR, Apr 4: Six residential houses, were damage in a land slide in Teetwal of Kupwara district this morning.
Reports said land slide hit Gundi Gujran area of Teetwal near line of control.
Two houses were extensively damaged.
The area is prone to landslides and soil erosion, during the snow melting season, which puts some villages like Panjtara, Taad and Gundi Gujral to vulnerability and risk.
Reports said people of these areas live in constant fear during this season and are under constant threat of landslides, which get triggered, at the inception of spring season, when snow starts to melt.
Meanwhile, locals have requested the district administration to take note of the mishap which has inflicted a great property loss and have urged the government to assess the damage to the property and compensation to the victims.
