4 Doctors sent to quarantine in Handwara

SRINAGAR, Apr 5: Four doctors who were monitoring and remained in contact with Covid-19 patient in north Kashmir’s Handwara have been kept in quarantine, official sources said.
Sources told, a fresh Covid-19 positive case of Handwara town, who was kept into quarantine centre located at ITI Handwara was monitored by four medical experts.
However after remained in contact with Covid-19 patient for days, all doctors were sent to quarantine centre.
However sources also said that the doctors were not given full personal protection gear while dealing Corona patients.
They added if authorities don’t provide protection gear to medical staff, days to come will witness more doctors into quarantine.
Deputy Medical Superintendent Handwara, Dr Ajaz said after having proximity to the said patient, all doctors were kept under quarantine.
He said that patient has earlier fever like symptoms after that she was taken into quarantine where four doctors continuously monitored and screened her but on April 4, she tested positive after which doctors treating her were immediately shifted to quarantine centre as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile Medical Superintendent Handwara Dr Abdul Rouf said that they have Personal protection kits for doctors monitoring suspect and positive cases but as per medical protocol, a medical expert who have remained in touch with such patients, has to be quarantined.
