‘Complete lockdown till May 31 in Srinagar’

SRINAGAR, May 23: The district administration today ordered complete lockdown in Srinagar till May 31.
The district administration in a tweet today said," DDMA orders complete lockdown in Srinagar till May 31. While essential services will be allowed to operate as per existing norms all other commercial and other activities will be prohibited."
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Shahid Choudhary told media that the restrictions are already in place from past few months to contain the deadly virus from spreading.
“The people across the Srinagar district cooperated with the administration very well and it is hoped that they will cooperate in the future as well,” DC Srinagar said, adding that on Eid, while all essential services will be allowed to operate as per existing norms, all other commercial and other activities will be prohibited.
“The word Eid means Happiness and to contain the disease, would be the happiest situation for one and all,” he said.
He appealed the people to avoid the congregations and large gatherings especially on the festivals.
