7 more Covid related deaths in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, July 2: Seven more persons died of coronavirus in Kashmir taking the death toll due to Covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir rose to 114.
Reports said that a 60-year-old Srinagar resident died at a hospital here, raising the death toll in a single day on Thursday to seven, out of which three each deaths were recorded at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital and Sher Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, while one death was reported at Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar.
Officials said that Srinagar resident from Habba Kadal area of the capitol city was admitted to the CD hospital on June 29th.
Earlier in the day four deaths due to COVID-19 were reported on Thursday, taking the toll of the victims, who died due to the virus in J&K to 111, which finally rose to 114 by evening.
Out of these four deaths, two were reported from Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura and rest of the two from Sri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital (SMHS) Hospital Srinagar.
Earlier in the day, two elderly patients from Kulgam and Baramulla districts respectively, one a 55-year-old and another 65-year-old man died at Sher (SKIMS) Soura.
According to the Medical Officials at SKIMS Dr. Farooq Jan the man from Yaripora area of Kulgam, who was admitted on June 22 and died 12:10 a.m, during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
He was suffering from hypertension and (type-2 diabetes) with multifocal Encephalopathy (brain disease).
Another patient, from Sopore town of Baramulla district in North Kashmir who was admitted ten days ago, also died on Thursday.
Officials said he was hypertensive and was also suffering from T2DM (type-2 diabetes) with Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and he had sudden cardiopulmonary arrest in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
Meanwhile two more persons succumbed to Covid-19 at SMHS Hospital in the day.
According to the officials at SMHS Hospital Srinagar, the two deaths occurred on Wednesday; however their swab samples returned positive for the COVID-19 Thursday.
One of the dead persons was a 75-year-old man from Budgam district and the other a 65-year-old woman from Batamaloo Srinagar.
They had underlying ailments including hypertension and bilateral pneumonia; however the woman was also suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)and were admitted in the hospital on Wednesday, said the officials.
As on now 114 deaths have been recorded in Jammu and Kashmir, due to Coronavirus, out of which 101 from the Valley and 13 from Jammu division.
Srinagar district with 26 deaths tops the death list due to Covid-19, followed by Baramulla (18), Kulgam (16), Shopian (12), (09) each from Anantnag and Budgam, Jammu(8), Kupwara (6), Pulwama (04), while 01 death each has been reported from Bandipora, Poonch, Doda, Udhampur, Rajouri and Kathua.
