JAMMU, July 5: Ahead of the start of Amarnath yatra, J&K witnessing surge in Coronavirus deaths and postive cases almost reaching 10,000 in J&K UT in next few days.
With the start of yatra, J&K govt will only open flood gates of COVID19 infection in the union Territory.
Report said that four more deaths related to COVID-19 were reported in Kashmir valley on Sunday, taking overall death toll to pandemic 131 in Jammu and Kashmir.
The latest fatalities include a 54-year old male from Baramulla, a 70- year- old male from Wantang Anantnag and a 60-year-old female from Shadipora, who died at SKIMS and 40 -year-old male from Sangrama Baramulla who died at CD hospital.
Dr Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent at SKIMS told that a 55-year old male from Baramulla who was tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday dies at SKIMS at 7:30 pm on Sunday.
He said that patient was in Ward 2A on ventilator and was known case of CLD with Bilateral pneumonia.
He further added that a 70 -year -old male from Anantnag who was admitted on July 3 died at SKIMS last night at around 10 pm.
"Sample of the patient was taken on July 03 which came positive on July 04", he said, adding that patient was suffering from bilateral pneumonia and was on NIV support but his attendants had given negative consent for intubation.
He said that a 60 -year -old female from Shadipora Bandipora who tested positive for COVID-19 died at SKIMS on Sunday at 9:15 am due to cardiopulmonary arrest with azotemia and sepsis.
"Patient was known case of hypertension, diabetes, CKD, ESRD admitted with pneumonia and encephalopathy, “he said.
Dr Saleem Tak, Medical superintendent at CD hospital told that a 40 -year -old male from Sangrama Baramulla who tested positive for Covid-19 and referred from SMHS to CD on June 27 died today
"The patient was suffering from bilateral pneumonia and died on Sunday," he said. With three more deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached to 131 including 117 from Valley and 14 from Jammu division.
Reports said that 18 employess of Pepsi Industry BariBrahamana in Samba District confirmed positive on Sunday.
However, Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday reported 183 fresh covid-19 infections, taking the number of cases in J&K to 8429.
Giving the district wise breakup of the cases, officials told that 59 were reported from Srinagar, Kupwara 20, Baramulla 17, Budgam 19, Samba 18, Ramban 10, Jammu nine, Kathua seven, four each in Pulwama, Kulgam and Bandipora, three each in Anantnag and Doda, two each in Udhampur and Rajouri besides one each in Shopian and Ganderbal.
Among the cases, 42 were confirmed out of 2218 samples processed at the viral diagnostic laboratory of the SKIMS Soura, Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at the hospital told.
Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, told that among the cases include 18 from Budgam, nine from Srinagar, three each from Kupwara and Kulgam, two each from Bandipora, Pulwama, Anantnag and Baramulla besides one from Shopian.
The 18 cases from Budgam include male (63) from Shamshabad Khansahib Budgam, male (45) from Kanihama Magam , female (55) from Wadwan , male (38) from Wathoora Chadoora , female (30) from Hushroo Chadoora , female (25) from Panzipora Chadoora , female (26) from Bathara, male (39) from Sholipora Budgam, male (37) from Pakherpora Budgam, two males (74, 26) and female (43) from Chadoora , male (36) from Soibugh, male (32) from Gound Khawaja Qasim Magam , female (40) from Chaira Magam , male (55) from Khag, female (60) from Budgam and female (60) from Pallar.
The Srinagar cases include male (50) from Ahmad Nagar, male (50) from Zoonimar, male (55) from Safakadal , female (51) from Natipora, male (35) from Lalbazar , male (65) and female (65) from Buchpora, Male (23) from Rawalpora and male (30) from Lalbazar while three cases from Kupwara include male (28) from Batergam, male (43) from Handwara and male (47) from Dardson. The Kulgam cases include female (34) from Kund, male (44) from Guddur and male (35) from Yaripora Kulgam While two cases Bandipora include male (38) from Shahgund and male (23) from Ralaan; Pulwama cases include female (25) from Awantipora and male (48) from Tral Pulwama; Anantnag ones include male (18 Months) from Tantraypora Siligam and male (50) from Aswara; Baramulla ones include male (23) from Naloora and male (48) from Uri Baramulla besides Shopian one is male (26) from Rawalpora Shopian.
Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina, told that out of 476 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 20 tested positive for COVID-19 and all of them from Srinagar. The other cases were confirmed at CD and Jammu labs.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 8429 positive cases, 3042 are Active Positive, 5255 have recovered and 132 have died; 14 in Jammu division and 118 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 399385 test results available, 390956 samples have been tested as negative till July 5, 2020.
Additionally, till date 296591 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 40149 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 42 in Hospital Quarantine, 3,042 in hospital isolation and 45780 under home surveillance. Besides, 207446 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Bandipora has 307 positive cases (including 04 cases reported today) with 25 Active Positive, 279 recovered (including 05 cases recovered today) and 03 death; Srinagar has 1151 positive cases (including 59 cases reported today) with 697 Active Positive, 423 recovered, 31 deaths; Anantnag district has 720 positive cases (including 03 cases reported today), with 145 Active Positive, 564 recovered (including 10 cases reported today), 11 deaths; Baramulla has 1023 positive cases (including 17 cases reported today) with 561 Active Positive, 439 recovered (including 18 cases recovered today), 23 deaths; Shopian has 849 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 225 Active Positive, 611 recovered and 13 deaths; Kupwara has 604 positive cases (including 20 cases reported today) with 168 Active Positive, 429 recovered (including 11 cases recovered today) and 07 deaths; Budgam has 486 positive cases (including 19 cases reported today) with 203 Active Positive and 274 recovered cases (including 33 cases recovered today) and 09 deaths; Ganderbal has 119 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 44 active positive cases and 74 recoveries (including 12 cases reported today) and 01 death; Kulgam has 859 positive cases (including 04 cases reported today), with 245 Active Positive and 598 recoveries and 16 deaths and Pulwama reported 538 positive cases (including 04 cases reported today) with 267 active positive cases and 267 recovered and 04 deaths.
Similarly, Jammu has 397 positive cases (including 09 cases reported today) with 88 active positive cases and 301 recoveries and 08 deaths; Udhampur has 290 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 82 active positive cases, 207 recovered (including 12 cases recovered today) and 01 death; Samba has 186 positive cases (including 18 cases reported today) with 66 Active Positive and 120 recoveries; Rajouri has 124 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 55 active positive cases and 68 recovered and 01 death; Kathua has 249 positive cases (including 07 cases reported today) with 60 Active positive and 188 recovered (including 11 recoveries today) and 01 death; Kishtwar has 29 positive cases with 08 active positive cases and 21 recovered; Ramban has 236 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 49 active positive and 187 recoveries ; Reasi has 45 positive cases with 13 active positive and 32 recovered; Poonch has 124 positive cases with 10 active positive and 113 recoveries and 01 death while Doda has 93 positive cases (including 03 cases reported today) with 31 active positive cases and 60 recoveries and 02 deaths.
According to the bulletin, of the total 8429 positive cases in J&K 2481 have been reported as travelers while 5948 as others.
