NEW DELHI, July 9: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has moved the Supreme Court to excuse it from the role assigned to it to oversee functioning of the Board of Controller for Cricket in India (BCCI), after six months of its experience, pointing out that its regulations demarcate the role of audit and management.
In an application filed before the Apex Court, the CAG has pleaded that the regulations clearly lay down that auditors cannot ordinarily be part of the management, the role assigned to its nominees in the Apex Council or the IPL.
The CAG said till date 18 state associations requested nominations for which the CAG has appointed.  "The CAG nominee being a part of Apex Council or IPL GC is just one of the member, and since decisions are taken in majority, inclusion of CAG nominee as a member in Apex Council or IPL GC is not serving the objectives.
