Covid 19 Epidemic expands its footprint in the J&K; Naib Tehsildar, CRPF man among eleven die, toll 445

JAMMU, Aug 6: The spread of the novel coronavirus in J&K has quickened in the last few days with new cases of Covid-19 and deaths reported every day. The epidemic has expanded its footprint in the J&K and has affected over lakh of people since the first positive case was confirmed.
Official said that eleven more persons including a senior Revenue Officer, CRPF man died of COVID-19, thus taking the toll of deaths due to the virus to 445 in the UT
An official from GMC Jammu told that a 42-year-old man from Patoli Jammu who was admitted on 05 August with hypertension, hypothyroid, diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease and diabetic nephropathy and was on oxygen support, died on Thursday. He was tested positive for COVID-19 on August 04, he said.
Official also told that a 55-year-old patient from Molu Chitragam, an 82-year-old man from Nowgam Srinagar, an 80-year-old male from Malbagh Srinagar and a 68-year-old woman from Handwara.
An official said that a 55-year-old senior Revenue Officer from Molu Chitragam who was presently posted as Naib Tehsildar Watchi Shopian died of COVID-19 on Wednesday evening.
DDC Shopian and many other officers especially from Revenue department have expressed grief over his demise.
"It’s with huge grief that we share the demise of our Naib Tehsildar, Wachi Maqbool Wani Sb after he lost his battle against Covid y’day at SKIMS. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. He was a gentle, hardworking man & an asset for the Distt. May Allah SWT grant him Jannat.Aameen," DDC Shopian Dr Yasin Choudhary tweeted.
An official from SKIMS Soura said that an 82-year-old man from Nowgam Srinagar who was admitted on 03 August died on Thursday.
He added that an 80-year-old man from Malbagh Srinagar who was admitted on 05 August also died on Thursday.
An official from SMHS told that a 68-year-old woman from Handwara who was admitted 28 July with hypertension and bilateral Pneumonia died on Thursday. He said that her first COVID swab was positive while as her second report is awaited.
Officials told 50-year-old CRPF man of 43 Battalion, a 65-year-old male from Rusoo Budgam and a 42-year-old male from Patoli Jammu.
An official from CD hospital said that a 50-year-old CRPF man of 43 battalion at Humhama, who is a resident of Uttar Pradesh was admitted on 27 July and died on Thursday.
He said that his second sample was tested negative on Wednesday and he was feeling better, however, he died suddenly due to Cardiac arrest.
With eleven more deaths, the death toll in J&K had reached to 445 including 414 from Kashmir division and 31 from Jammu division.
Meanwhile, sources told that senior Bureaucrat from Jammu and Kashmir among 501 on Thursday reported covid-19 cases including 91 travellers, taking the total count of infected persons past 24,851.
Among the fresh cases, 73 cases were reported from Jammu and 426 from Kashmir Valley.
Giving district wise breakup, sources told GNS that Srinagar reported 113, Baramulla 44, Pulwama 9,
Kulgam 20, Shopian 8, Anantnag 73, Budgam 52, Kupwara 17, Bandipora 49, Ganderbal 41, Jammu 51, Rajouri 5, Ramban 1, Kathua 6, Udhampur 2, Samba 5, Poonch 1 and Kishtwar 2.
In Kashmir, Srinagar tops the list with 5699 cases followed by Baramulla with 2041 , Pulwama 1743, Kulgam 1572, Shopian 1500, Anantnag 1490, Kupwara 1181, Budgam 1438, Bandipora 914, and Ganderbal 603.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 1412 cases, Rajouri 751, Ramban 575, Kathua 565, Udhampur 595, Samba 467, Doda 299, Poonch 252, Reasi 198 and Kishtwar 159. With the new cases, the tally overall has risen to 23454—18181 in Kashmir and 5273 in Jammu.
Moreover, 464 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals—105 from Jammu Division and 359 from Kashmir Valley.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 23454 positive cases, 7310 are Active Positive, 15708 have recovered and 436 have died; 34 in Jammu division and 402 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 686808 test results available, 663354 samples have been tested as negative till August 06, 2020.
Additionally, till date 381410 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43098 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7310 in isolation and 43640 under home surveillance. Besides, 286926 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 5699 positive cases (including 113 cases reported today) with 2375 Active Positive, 3180 recovered (including 131 cases recovered today), 144 deaths; Baramulla has 2041 positive cases (including 44 cases reported today) with 410 Active Positive, 1558 recovered (including 27 cases recovered today), 73 deaths; Pulwama reported 1743 positive cases (including 09 cases reported today) with 722 active positive cases and 994 recovered (including 43 cases recovered today) and 27 deaths; Kulgam has 1572 positive cases (including 20 cases reported today) with 166 Active Positive and 1377 recoveries (including 40 cases recovered today) and 29 deaths; Shopian has 1500 positive cases (including 08 cases reported today) with 193 Active Positive, 1283 recovered (including 27 cases recovered today) and 24 deaths; Anantnag district has 1490 positive cases (including 73 cases reported today) with 309 Active Positive, 1153 recovered (including 24 cases recovered today), 28 deaths; Budgam has 1438 positive cases (including 52 cases reported today) with 455 Active Positive and 950 recovered (including 50 cases recovered today) cases and 33 deaths; Kupwara has 1181 positive cases (including 17 cases reported today) with 203 Active Positive, 957 recovered, 21 deaths; Bandipora has 914 positive cases (including 49 cases reported today) with 345 Active Positive, 553 recovered (including 14 cases recovered today) and 16 deaths and Ganderbal has 603 positive cases (including 41 cases reported today) with 262 active positive cases and 334 recoveries (including 03 cases recovered today) and 07 deaths.
Similarly, Jammu has 1412 positive cases (including 51 cases reported today) with 655 active positive cases and 734 recoveries (including 20 cases recovered today), 23 deaths; Rajouri has 751 positive cases (including 05 cases reported today) with 260 active positive cases, 488 recovered (including 03 cases recovered today), 03 deaths; Ramban has 575 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 128 active positive, 446 recoveries (including 04 cases reported today), 01 death; Kathua has 565 positive cases (including 06 cases reported today) with 109 Active positive, 455 recovered (including 28 cases recovered today), 01 death; Udhampur has 595 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 203 active positive cases, 390 recovered (including 18 cases recovered today), 02 deaths; Samba has 467 positive cases (including 05 cases reported today) with 170 Active Positive and 296 recoveries (including 09 cases recovered today), 01 death; Doda has 299 positive cases with 79 active positive cases, 218 recoveries, 02 deaths; Poonch has 252 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 90 active positive, 161 recoveries (including 06 cases recovered today),01 death; Reasi has 198 positive cases with 127 active positive, 71 recoveries (including 11 cases recovered today) and Kishtwar has 159 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 49 active positive cases; 110 recoveries (including 06 cases recovered today).
According to the bulletin, of the total 23454 positive cases in J&K 4778 have been reported as travellers while 18676 as others.
