Pak violates ceasefire along LoC in Karnah, Uri sectors

SRINAGAR, Aug 7: Pakistan army on Friday violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LOC) in Karnah and Uri sectors of north Kashmir's Kupwara and Baramulla districts. The places where Indo-Pak armies exchanged small and heavy gunfire includes Gabra, Hajitra, Sadhpora, Dhani area of Karnah sector leading to injuries to atleast six civilians.
The Pakistani forces also resorted to unprovoked firing in Boniyar Uri of north Kashmir's Baramulla district. Indian forces also responded effectively triggering a heavy exhange of artilery during early morning hours.
An official while confirming the civilian injuries identified three persons out of six in cross LOC firing and mortar shelling in Bhaghballa area of Kupwara district. He identified the trio as Mohammad Arif, 40, son of Alif Deen from Shamsipora, Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, 60, son of Haditullah Mir from Bhaghballa and Syed Rafakat, 25, son of Maharban Hussain Shah, from Shamsipora. The trio was initially admitted to SDH Tangdhar from where they were referred to SKIMS Srinagar for further treatment.
The defence PRO in his update said, "Pakistan initiated an Unprovoked Ceasefire Violation (CFV) today morning along the LoC in Tangdhar Sector, Kupwara by firing Mortars & other weapons. Pakistan targeting civilian areas. Six civilians injured in the CFV. Befitting response is being given."
