SRINAGAR, Aug 7: The family members and relatives of a 65 year old man, Abdul Majeed Baqal of Chanapora on Friday staged a protest in press colony Srinagar. Baqal, as per family, was beaten up by his neighbour on 30th July during an altercation injuring him seriously. The man died on August 2nd while the accused was arrested by police.
The protesting family demanded registration of FIR against the accused involved in the killing.
"My husband was cleaning the path with water outside our gate while the small daughter of a neighbour passed by whose clothes got wet slightly. Her father, Waseem Dar, got enraged of this and started beating my husband repeatedly. We pleaded him to leave him but he without showing mercy beat him to pulp which resulted in the death of my husband. We want justice to be done, we want the culprit to be hanged for his crime," said the wife of victim.
Even if the victim was taken to hospital by neighbours for treatment, he died the 2nd night at his home following the beating.
The family says that the accused has been put behind bars but the police is yet to lodge a formal FIR in this killing. We want the killer to be tried in court and hanged for his crime.
