Police in Awantipora bust hideouts, recover arms

SRINAGAR, Aug 13: Police in Awantipora area of Pulwama district have claimed to bust of two hideouts leading to the recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
As per an official statement, the operation based on the credible input about the presence of militants of proscribed outfit Lashkar e Toiba in the forest area of BadrooBarsoo, Awantipora Police along with 50RR and 130 BN CRPF launched searches in this forest area during the night hours of 12/13 August 2020. During search operation in the early morning hours two hideouts of proscribed outfit Lashkar e Toiba were busted and destroyed. The joint forces were able to recover incriminating material and a huge cache of explosive items, ammunition from the busted, and destroyed hideouts.
The police while giving details about the recovered items claimed that 1918 rounds of AK 47, two Hand Grenades, 1 UBGL thrower, 04 UBGL grenades, half a bag of ammonium nitrate like substance, five gelatin sticks, crude pipe bomb and three numbers of code sheets and other material which includes Indian currency of Rs 5400, food items, utensils, gas stoves, gas cylinder were found in these hideouts. A case under FIR number 106/2020 U/S 18, 20 has been registered in this regard while further investigations have been taken up.
