All round improvement in Covid data

NEW DELHI, Aug 14: The Health Ministry on Friday reported an all round improvement in the Covid-19 related data -- Mortality further down to 1.95%, recovery rate up to 71.17%, hospitalisation slides to 26.88%. All these percentages relate to total 24.61 lakh detected with positive symptoms in the highest day's tests of 8.49 lakh, which sows 76 found infected in every 1000 tests.
India is racing fast to catch up the 5-lakh mark in fatalities by Monday as it already reached 4.80 lakh on Friday while there were 1007 single-day deaths that were also recorded last Monday. Deaths per million population in India is going up from 33 to 34 on Thursday and 35 on Friday.
As many as 64,553 persons were found infected in the past 24 hours as against 55,573 recoveries. The total number of active cases in hospital rose to 6.62 lakh while 27.69 crore have been so far tested for the dreaded disease.
Deaths in Maharashtra spiked to 413 in a single day, followed by Tamil Nadu 119 and Karnataka 103. Delhi recorded 14 deaths, Gujarat 18, J&K and Rajasthan 11 each, Punjab 31, West Bengal 56 and Uttar Pradesh 50.

The WHO dashboard shows 7,57,446 deaths so far as against 2,10,68,933 found infected, 1.39 crore of whom have recovered and 63.91 lakh are still in hospitals, though only 1% of them are serious or critical, their number being 64,499.
