Highest 81 gallantry awards to J&K police

NEW DELHI, Aug 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has bagged the highest 81 gallantry awards out of 215 getting the police medals for gallantry on the occasion of the eve of the Independence day while a total of 926 police personnel have been decorated with different medals -- 631 for meritorious service and 80 awarded President's police medals for distinguished service.
The CRPF bagged the second highest 55 medals for gallantry, followed by 23 to Uttar Pradesh Police, 16 to Delhi Police, 14 to Maharashtra Police and 12 to the Jharkhand Police. Maximum 123 awards have gone for gallant action in J&K, 29 for gallant action in the naxal-hit area and eight for action in the North East region.
Those who bagged the prestigious President's police medal for distinguished service include Aijaz RasooGanai from J&K, Additional DGP and Police Wireless DGP ReteshMunniKumaarr from Pune, Additional DGP (ADmin) and Director General of Police Sanjeev Kumar Singhal, Deputy SP Mrs Sushma Shailendra Chavan from Pune, Police SI Vijay Londhe from Nashik, and Assistant SI Ganesh Mehtras from Latur, Maharashtra.
Two bagging the medal from Rajasthan are Sanjay Kumar Shrotriya, DIGP, CM Seecurity and Sunil Dutt, ADGP Telecommunication.
The Police medal for meritorious service has gone among others to 12 in Jammu and Kashmir, namely SSPs Randeep Kumar, Tahir Saleem, Romesh Kotwal, Manoj Kumar, Anti-Corruption Bureau Inspector Vikram Sharma, MTO Manjeet Singh, Inspector Steno-PA of DGP Shashi umar, Kupwara SI Ghulam Ahmad Payer, SI Gulzar Hussain Khan, ASI Suraj Khan, Head Constable MrsRukhsanaKosar and constable Milap Chand.
In Maharashtra, 39 police personnel begged the meritorious service awards. They include Asstt Inspector General Vinayak Badrinarayan Deshmukh, Pune Dy Commissioner of Police Shirish Sardeshpande, SP Tushar Chanddra Kant Doshi, Railway Police depty SP Narendra Kumar Kisanrao Gaikwad, Pune ACP Sunil BhagwanYadav,and SRPF Commandant Mohd Ilyas Mohd Sayeed Shaikh, Aurangabad.
