NEW DELHI, Oct 14: The Supreme Court on Wednesday deferred hearing after the next week's Dussehra holiday on an appeal filed by Jharkhand BJP leader Pradeep Sonthalia against election of Congress member Dhiraj Sahu to the Rajya Sabha.
Sonthalia came to the Apex Court after the Jharkhand High Court dismissed his plea.
The short hearing, in which senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi appeared for Sonthalia and senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi for the respondent, was marred by technical glitches, prompting Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bode, heading a 3-judge Bench, to adjourn the case. He dismissed Rohatgi's plea for a short date, saying that "matter will not disappear; we will hear it in the week after the first miscellaneous week post vacations."
The case is tentatively fixed on November 5 and not immediately after the Dussehra holidays.
