20 Quintals of rice seized in Sumbal

School Principal terms allegations baseless

SRINAGAR, Oct 17: About 20 quintal of rice meant for mid-day meals at Middle School Sumbal were recovered from an TATA Mobile vehicle, which was seized by Sumbal police in the premises of Middle School.
A news agency, CNS, quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the rice meant for mid-day meals and “was transferred from school illegally and the attempt was thwarted by police”.
Meanwhile, Principal of the Middle School denied the charges and said, “we were cleaning the school and only for time being, the said rice was transferred to safe location to store it till school was cleaned completely.
However, the police have raided few locations in connection with black marketing of the rice.
The investigation was going on, the CNS said.
