Journalist Mudasir Ali dies of heart attack

SRINAGAR, Nov 20: Prominent journalist and Greater Kashmir staffer, Mudasir Ali died of sudden cardiac arrest this morning. A resident of Charar-e-Sharief in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, his work was also featured in other national and international media publications.
His brother, Jehangir Ali, a senior journalist, shared the news of his brother’s untimely death on social media.
According to family members, he had complained of chest pain moments before his death and died before he could be moved to a hospital.
Hundreds of people attended the funeral procession of Mudasir in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district where he was buried in his ancestral graveyard.
His death has shocked the media fraternity and others and has been widely condoled.
The lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has condoled the untimely demise of Mudasir Ali.
“Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of young journalist Mudasir Ali. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends and colleagues,” he said in a statement.
Omar Abdullah, the former chief minister of Jammu Kashmir, while expressing shock over the death of Mudasir Ali tweeted: “I’ve been interviewed by Mudassir several times & tried to dodge his tough questions at numerous press conferences. He was a tenacious reporter, always polite but never easy to fob off. He will be sorely missed. God speed Mudassir.”
National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and other party leaders too expressed grief over Ali’s sudden demise.
PDP chairperson and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti also tweeted saying that she was saddened to know of Mudasir Ali’s sudden demise.
“Have known him for years & he was a great person. Still find it hard to believe. May Allah give strength to his family to bear this loss,” she posted on Twitter.
The Kashmir Press Club, , the news agencies Kashmir News Trust and CNS, the Doctors Association of Kashmir, the Jammu Kashmir Press Association, among others expressed shock over the sudden death of the young journalist and extended sympathy to the bereaved family.
Jammu & Kashmir Editors Forum (JKEF) have expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mudasir Ali. “In this moment of grief JKEF stands with the bereaved family and prayed to almighty Allah to grant them strength to bear the loss,” said a spokesman.
J&K Editors Association (JKEA) Head Rasheed Rahi called a condolences meeting at head office Srinagar and while expressing shock over Ali’s sudden demise, he prayed for highest place in Jannah to the bereaved soul, others members in the meeting also expressed prayed to Allah that may his noble soul rest in peace and prayed for strength to his family in this hour of grief.
Expressing deep shock and grief over the tragic and sudden death of young journalist Mudasir Ali, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has termed the demise as an irreparable loss.
“Late Mudasir was a veteran journalist. The contribution made by him in the field of journalism will always be remembered. In his death, we have lost a great asset and the vacuum left by his passing away in the media fraternity would be difficult to fill,” he said, expressing solidarity with the bereaved family and media fraternity.
