SRINAGAR, Nov 28: The second phase of Kashmiri Pandit Sangarsh Samiti’s (KPSS) fast-unto-death today entered its 7th day and the organisation alleged that the government is ignoring their miseries and “deliberately destroying our existence in Kashmir Valley.”
The leaders of the community have been petitioning the government to provide 808 Pandit families, who chose to stay on despite adverse circumstances, with financial assistance and jobs, but no action has been taken so far.
KPSS had called off a similar hunger-strike in September after the administration agreed to address their demands. According to a statement issued by the outfit, it was forced to resort to fast-unto-death as local bureaucrats stalled efforts to grant financial assistance to the community members.
The KPSS says that many Pandits have also lot jobs after the businesses were shut due to last year’s lockdown and later the Covid and that it is becoming very difficult for the community to survive.
The KPSS once again reminded the Prime Minister to act on those who are not adhering to the orders of the High Court as well as that of the Central Government.
