Corona tests lowered as lesser cases reported

NEW DELHI, Jan 11: The Coronavirus tests in India have been lowered on account of the less number of cases and deaths as 6.59 lakh tests were carried out in the past 24 hours, which are the lowest in the last two months.
The daily deaths slumped to 161 in 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Monday while only 16,811 new cases of the virus were registered in the country, which were less than 16,959 recoveries.
The recoveries have reached 96.43% of the total 04.67 lakh detections of the positive cases while 2.23 lakh persons are still under treatment which shows only 2.13% of the total positive cases.
India's fatality rate is at 1.44%, which is one of the lowest globally. The country's death toll has reached 1,51,160. The total number of samples tested so far has crossed 18.17 crore.
Maharashtra topped with 34 deaths in the past 24 hours as against 57 on the previous day, followed by Kerala 23, West Bengal and UP 19 each and Delhi 12. Only six states reported an increase in the Covid-19 cases, Maharashtra topping at 1222, followed by Karnataka 197. Four other states had cases in single or double digits.
