Soldier dies in cross-LoC firing

JAMMU, Jan 21: An Army jawan has been killed in Pakistani firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishnaghati sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Army said that Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation on the line of control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati Sector in Poonch district. Indian army troops responded strongly to the Pakistan fire.
As per the Army's statement, the soldier was critically injured in the Pakistani firing and later succumbed to the injuries.
Army said that bullet hit the chest of the trooper from 10 JAK Rifles. “He was airlifted to Udhampur Army Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
In its statement, the Army further said, "Indian Army troops responded strongly to the enemy fire. In the incident, Hav Nirmal Singh of 10 JAK RIF was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries."
The deceased has been identified as Hav Nirmal Singh of 10 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.
The Army also said, "Hav Nirmal Singh was a brave, highly motivated and a sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty."
