Militant hideout busted in Poonch

JAMMU, Jan 23: Border Security Forces (BSF) has busted yet another tunnel allegedly constructed by Pakistan at the International Border (IB) to facilitate infiltration of terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir, along the international border in Pansar area in Kathua district.
The secret tunnel was detected during an anti-tunnelling operation in the border outpost Pansar area of Hiranagar sector. This is the second underground tunnel detected by BSF personnel in Hiranagar sector during the past 10 days, fourth in the past six months along the IB in Samba and Kathua districts and 10th in the past decade.
The latest tunnel is believed to be 150-metre-long originating from the Pakistan side with a depth of about 30 feet and three feet diameter. Earlier, the BSF had shot down a Pakistani Hexacopter carrying load of weapons and ammunition in June last year in the same area. The BSF troops had also foiled an infiltration bid in the same area in November, 2019.
Several weapons including one AK 47, three pistols, three AK Mag, five pistol Mag, one UBGL Grenade, 4 Hand Grenade and one RS Mototola were recovered from the spot.
Meanwhile, according to KNO, Border Security Force and Jammu and Kashmir police busted a militant hideout in Mandi area of Poonch district in the Jammu region.
Officials said that on specific intelligence information, a party led by Deputy Commandant of BSF comprising of troops from BSF, Army RR and SOG of police launched an operation in forest area in Hadiguda village falling under Police Station Mandi.
In the operation, BSF said that a militant hideout has been busted while arms and ammunition have been recovered.
The recovery includes one AK-47 Rifle, three AK magazines, 82 AK rounds, three Chinese pistols, five Pistol magazines, 33 Pistol ammunition, four Hand Grenades, one UBGL grenade, and one Set Kenwood type.
Officials further stated that search operation is still going on in the area.
