JAMMU, Feb 20: The district administration of Jammu today closed down around 29 structures, which prima facie appear to have been constructed on State Land along National Highway Bye Pass from Narwal to Sidhra.
In a statement, the district administration clarified that other commercial establishments on same road, which are not currently believed to be on State Land are operating normally.
It said that further proceedings will be initiated by Revenue Officials immediately and in case the owners have any legal and valid claim, that shall be duly considered before any measure is taken.
As per details the directions were passed on Saturday to all Restaurants on Sidhra Highway and they stand closed.
As per verbal communication, restaurants were asked to remain shut on Saturday. The Official order is yet to be seen that and then only complete details will come for how long they will remain closed but sources told that the issue is related to State Land and official communication likely to be issued soon.
Restaurant owners along Sidhra Road in Jammu have claimed that they have been asked by the district administration to shut their operations.
There are more than 40 restaurants along Sidhra Road on the outskirts of Jammu that have been allegedly asked to shut their operations by the administration.
A restaurant owner claimed that they were not told by the administration about the reason to shut their operations. They alleged that they were being harassed by the district administration of Jammu without giving a reason to close their food joints.
However, restaurants owners alleged that some food joints that are present in the forest area along Sidhra Road were not asked to shut their operations.
However, an official of district administration on condition of anonymity said that some of the restaurants have become a den of anti-social activities.
