Active Covid cases rising in India

NEW DELHI, Feb 27: The active Covid-19 cases have been going up for the past 10 days except on two days as 3604 more cases were reported in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of the active cases to 1,59,590.
India has so far completed vaccination of 1.42 crore people while there shall be no vaccination on Saturday and Sunday before India switches over from Co-Win 1.0 to Co-Win 2.0 from Monday to cover those above 60 or those above 45 with the co-morbidities as certified by doctors.
The new Coronavirus cases are also detected to be increasing every day, with as many as 16,488 detections in the past 24 hours, raising the total positive cases in the country to 1.11 crore while the recoveries have dipped to 12,771 in a day. The cumulative recoveries touched 1.08 crore, which is 97.14% of the total infections.
The day's fatalities at 113 raised the cumulative deaths from the dreaded virus to 1,56,938. Maharashtra continues to top in terms of the Covid-19 deaths at 48 in 24 hours, followed by 15 in Punjaband 14 in Kerala, while there were no deaths in 17 of the 36 states/Union Territories.
At the global level, 25.29 lakh persons have succumbed to death, out of 11.40 crore Coronavirus cases, the USA topping with 5.23 lakh deaths, followwed by Brazil 2.53 lakh. Brazil is third in terms of the total cases while India is second on the WHO meter.
