3 militants killed, 2 army men injured in Shopian

SRINAGAR, Apr 8: Three militants have been killed and two army troopers were injured in an ongoing gunfight at Jan Mohalla area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday.
A local news gathering agency GNS, quoting official sources, reported that three militants have been killed as well two army troopers were injured in an ongoing gunfight, however the identity of the killed militants is yet to be ascertained.
However, earlier in the day, Kashmir Zone Police had tweeted that among the trapped militants is the top commander of the Al-Qaeda inspired terror outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The AGH has been coordinating with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Both the troopers have been shifted to 92 Base hospital for treatment.
Earlier, reports said that a joint team of Police, army’s 44RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Jan Mohalla.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
