Covid infections below 30,000, lowest since Mar 17

NEW DELHI, Jul 27: India on Tuesday recorded 29,689 cases of Covid-19 infection, which the lowest after 132 days since March 17 while the active cases also fell below 4 lakh, recording 3,98,100 cases, lowest after 124 days since March 25, the latest Health Ministry data showed.

The country's Covid-19 infection tally was pushed to 3,14,40,951, while the death toll climbed to 4,21,382, with 415 daily fatalities. Maharashtra dropped to third slot in terms of 53 daily deaths as against Kerala's 135 and Odisha 62.

Top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 11,586 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 4,877 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,785 cases, Odisha with 1,637 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 1,627 cases. These five states account for 72.45% of the new Covid-19 cases, with Kerala alone responsible for 39.02% of the new cases.

India's recovery rate now stands at 97.39%. A total of 42,363 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,06,21,469 across the country. The daily recoveries far exceeded the day's infections.

On the vaccine front, a total of 66,03,112 doses were administered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 44,19,12,395. As many as 17.20 lakh were tested in 24 hours, raising the total persons tested so far to 45.92 crore.

The daily positivity rate has declined to 1.73% while he weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.33%.
