SRINAGAR, Sep 22: Inhabitants of Hazratbal area here on Wednesday appealed authorities to resume sports activities in Kashmir University for the local youth.
A delegation from the locality held a peaceful protest against the university authorities for not allowing locals to play in the ground.
‘’While the authorities have resumed every sports event and other activities in the university premises, only the local youth are being given excuse of Covid protocol for playing’’, they said
They said that at a time when government is stressing much upon developing infrastructure for sports so that the youth may not fall prey to drugs and other anti-social activities, Kashmir authorities are turning deaf years to their demand.
"I am unable to figure out that on one side government is taking concrete steps in eradicating the drug menace from society by organising different sports events but on the other side our basic demand is not being adhered to," Zahid Zubair a local resident
The residents have appealed LG Manoj Sinha to look into the matter and direct concerned authorities to allow local youths to resume their sports activities.
