Covid declining in India, but still high in Kerala

NEW DELHI, Sep 22: Covid-19 is on a decline in India, but for the high instances of 15,768 infections and 214 deaths in the past 24 hours in Kerala on Wednesday. The countrywide infections in 24 hours touched 26,964 and 383 deaths. Maharashtra had the second highest single-day deaths of 70.

Active cases in the country are down to 3,01,989, with 7,586 fall in the past 24 hours. The total infections in the country reached 33.53 million, though 32.78 million of them recovered with the recovery rate of 97.77% while another 4,45,768 persons succumbed to death.

The nationwide vaccination touched 82.85 crore, with 75.56 lakh doses inoculated in 24 hours. With 15.92 lakh tests in the past 24 hours, the cumulative tests touched 55.68 crore.

The daily positivity rate dropped to 1.69%, less thn 3% for the last 23 days while the weekly positivity rate fell to 2.08%, less than 3% for the last 89 days.
