Barjani Club wins opening tie

JAMMU, Jan 12: Barjani Cricket Club (BCC) won the inaugural tie of the Major Pritam Singh Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by General Baj Singh Cricket Club at Badhori in Bari Brahmana today.
To make it to the next round, BCC defeated Revenue Cricket Club (RCC) by seven wickets. Batting first, after winning the toss, RCC bowled out for 122 runs.
Ujwal Singh remained top scorer with 47-ball 60 runs while Sarbhjit contributed 28 runs. From BCC, Aninash and Kabir Khan shared three wickets each.
In reply, BCC chased the total making 126 runs in 19.3 overs for the loss of three wickets. Naushad (41 off 22 balls) and Bhanu (19-ball 27 runs) were highest scorers. From RCC, Rahul and Prince shared one wicket each.
For taking away three important wickets, Avinash was declared man of the match.
The match was officiated by Zorawar and Rohit as umpires while Rahil and Deepa were scorers.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by District Development Commissioner, R K Verma in a well attended function. Interacting with the teams, playing in the opening match, and those members of the organising committee, the chief guest appreciated the General Baj Singh Club for providing the local talent a platform to excel in sports.
International cricketer, Surinder Singh Bagal was guest of honour. Prominent among others present were Balbir Singh and Rishi Singh as also Sarpanch of Badhori.
Chandan Cricket Club shall take on United Cricket Club on tomorrow.
