Brooming Away Dirt..!

How easy a cleanliness drive!
Buy a broom, bend a little, sweep a little, pick the dirt, throw into a garbage can! Cameras flash! People stare, public impressed, votes gathered!
But look again; has the dirt really been swept away? Look closely at those hands holding the broom, the dirt clings on. It's not the dirt from the cleanliness drive, nor dirt from the areas the broom was used, it's the filth and dirt that can't be swept away, that exists in the heart and hands of the broom carrier.
How easy the cleanliness drive!
How easy to impress with a broom and swish and a deft sweep into a tray while the hands and heart
still bear the dirt!
"Sir! Yes you holding the broom, may I see your hands?"
"Why?"
"Is this the dirt that came off the broom or dirt that comes out of your heart?"
"Can't you see what I am doing?"
"Yes sir, I can see you trying to fool people with your cleanliness drive!"
"Good, good, look at how worn out the broom is? Do you have a camera, will you take a photo of the broom, and me holding it?"
"But sir, what the people don't see is a heart filled with the filth of hate and anger, of a foul mouth that spits venom and lies, and hands defiled with the blood of innocents!"
"See how clean the road is! I even cleaned the pavements!"
"What people don't see is a mind full of deceit and falsehood!"
"See, I cleaned the dirt under that stationary car!"
"What people don't see sir is a slanderous tongue full of bitterness."
"What are you saying, can't you see I have gone on a cleanliness drive?"
"Of what use is that act of cleanliness when the broomer is still full of dirt?"
"You want me to clean myself?"
"Before you clean others, the roads, the garden and streets, what needs to be cleaned sir, is your own true self! But sir…."
"What?"
"You will need more than yonder broom to do that. You will need more than the waters of the river you are trying to clean up, to do that, what you will need is to be swept clean inside: Swept clean of your hate and venom, swept clean of the poison you implant in others. Then and only then sir, should you go on a cleanliness drive."
"You lie!"
"No sir, you do, and your heart and hands show dirt that needs more than water for a cleanup job! Till then sir, leave the broom alone..!"
