Re-opening of Shaheed Bhagat Singh trial

Kashmir Times. Dated: 10/10/2014 12:50:12 PM

Dear Editor,
It is good that some of Pakistani lawyers are trying for re-opening of trial of Shaheed Bhagat Singh to set the history right with Lahore High Court referring the case to a larger constitutional bench. These Pakistani friends earlier tried to name Shadman Chowk of Lahore after Shaheed Bhagat Singh who was hanged to death at this place by British rulers on 23rd March 1931. Much has been said on social media about some of India’s most prominent lawyer-personalities of that time not agreeing to contest court-cases of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and other great martyrs considering them as criminals rather than freedom-fighters. If it is true, then present Union government should expose all those who acted like as British agents by not contesting court-cases of great Indian freedom fighters.
Union government should also co-ordinate with those Pakistani lawyers who are now seeking re-opening of conviction of Shaheed Bhagat Singh at Lahore courts to make history-pages really truthful.
