Pilot blames Raje govt for police action on Youth Congr members

JAIPUR, Mar 4 (Agencies): PCC President Sachin Pilot today accused Raje government for the police action on Youth Congress members who were protesting outside the Assembly and condemned suspension of its 8 MLAs from the House over their protest against the action.
Pilot said that the members led by him were holding a peaceful protest but the police beat them and several persons including him and MLA Ashok Chandna received injuries- an allegation which was rejected by Home Minister Gulabchand Kataria in the House.
"Our members were holding peaceful protest outside the assembly against deteriorating law and order situation, hike in power tariff and other issue. There was no provocation from our side and the police deliberately took action of lathi-charge," Pilot told agencies.
He said that more than 20 workers have been injured in the lathi-charge.
"Our MLAs raised the issue in the House but they were not allowed and were suspended. One sided action was taken which is highly condemnable," he said.
The YC activists as scheduled had gathered at Udyog Maidan on Statue circle to hold protest, followed by Gherao of Assembly against the increase in electricity tariff, VAT on fuel and other issues.
The activists led by Pilot, Chandna marched towards assembly and were stopped by the police where the alleged action was taken.
After the incident, he said, that MLA Chandna raised the issue in the assembly but he was not allowed.
When other members came in his supported, they were suspended by the Speaker.
"Voice of the Opposition was suppressed. This is undemocratic act and I condemn it. We will continue to raise our voice with full force and strength," he said.
