All India Police Martyrs Memorial Hockey tourney 2015 from Mar 10: DGP

JAMMU, Mar 7: Instituted in the year 2006, All India Police Martyrs’ Memorial Hockey Tournament is annually dedicated as a tribute to officers and officials of J&K Police who made the supreme sacrifice of their precious lives in upholding the sovereignty and integrity of our nation so that the radiance of the immortal glory of martyrs’ will always continue to inspire the entire Police Forces of the state for greater determination to neutralize all the forces that threaten the very sovereignty and integrity of our great nation.
Resolving to ensure that the forces of darkness and destruction do not eclipse reasoning and goodness, 1439 officers and officials of Jammu & Kashmir Police including 1 DIG, 1SP, 20 DySsP, 23 Inspectors, 33 Sub Inspectors, 59 ASIs, 137 HCs, 169 Sgcts, 490 Constables, 20 followers and 486 SPOs (Special Police Officers)have laid down their lives in combating terrorism during last over two decades right from the eruption of militancy in the State in the year 1989, besides numerous sacrifices during the wars of 1947, 1962, 1965 and 1971.
These men of substance have fought valiantly against the forces of death and destruction with honour and dignity; embraced death on the alter of duty for the just cause-to maintain the security and territorial integrity of the country and to protect the lives and property of the people. Every drop of blood shed by our comrades in uniform will continue to inspire us for the noble cause for which they sacrificed their today for our tomorrow. They will be remembered and remembered with respect and admiration for all they did, stood for and symbolized.
Addressing media persons DGP K Rajendra said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is organizing 4th All India Police Martyrs’ Memorial Hockey Tournament-2015 at KK Hakhu Astro turf Stadium, Jammu (Opposite Jammu University) from March 10 to 14.
It is a “A” grade tournament affiliated with Hockey India and played under the auspices of Hockey J&K.
K.Rajendra Kumar IPS Director General of Police J&K is the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of this Championship whereas S.M. Sahai Additional Director General of Police Armed J&K is its Organizing Secretary.
For the smooth and successful conduct of the event, besides organizing committee headed by DGP J&K, various sub committees headed by IsGP have been constituted for arranging and supervising various activities being carried out during event under the overall supervision of Chairman & Organizing Secretary of the event, he added.
The sub Committees have been constituted included Conduct, Ground Prep, Opening & Closing,Hospitality Committees, Jury of Appeal , Media Relations,Publicity and Invitation committees, Transport, accommodation Committees, Security/Traffic/L&O Committees, Medical Committees , Games Secretariat Committees, he informed .
The Championship will be conducted according to the rules of game of Hockey and regulations of the Hockey India (HI).The championship will be conducted on knock out basis and all matches shall be played at K.K. Hakhu Stadium Jammu.
He further said that more than two hundred players of 12 leading Hockey teams from across the country including two local teams JKP & J&K XI) will participate in this championship. The teams participating in the tournament are BSF, CRPF, Air force, J&K XI, Namdhari XI, P & S Bank, J&K Police, Dogra XI, New Gurdaspur Club, Core of Signal, CISF and Punjab Police.
A cash reward of Rs.50,000 (Fifty thousand), Rs.30,000 (Thirty thousand) and Rs.20,000 (Twenty thousand) has been earmarked for winning team, Runner up team and 2nd runner up teams of the tournament respectively, he disclosed.
The opening ceremony will be held at 1100 hrs on March 10, 2015 at KK Hakhu Astro Turf Stadium, Jammu. Moulvi Raza Ansari, minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports J&K will be chief Guest on the occasion
The closing ceremony will place on March 14 at 1600 where in Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh Dy. Chief Minister, J&K will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Special arrangement have been made for presence of NOKs of Police Martyrs on the occasion of closing ceremony, where Chief Guest and senior Police Officers will interact with them, to hear the problems faced by them for speedy redressal. As a token of love, respect and affection, families of Police martyrs will be presented gifts in a presentation ceremony.
The families of our martyrs will continue to be the member of the family of J&K Police and always taken care of by this organization. Besides maintaining Law & Order, peace and tranquility in the State,
J&K Police is creating identity in sports culture by incessant performance of police personnel at National/International level. J&K Police Sports personnel are backbone of J&K State sports bodies while representing the country at highest level of competition viz National games/Asian games, World Championship and Asian Championship. More than eight renowned Sports persons of J&K Police have been conferred with State Awards and Sher-i-Kashmir Medals in the State till date whereas some of the officials have been recommended for Arjun/Dronacharya Award by the State and National Federation since 4 years for their outstanding contribution in sports at International level.
At present J&K Police is nurturing more than 18 teams of different sports including 04 women teams. Besides Adventure Sports Mountaineering, White water rafting, J&K Police distinguished itself by hosting of 10th All India Police Games so for and is organizing All India level tournaments viz MMHT, MMFT, J&K Police Marathon and Pedal for Kashmir besides several activities under Civic Action Programme.
