BJP lashes out legislators for raking non-issues in LA
KT NEWS SERVICE. Dated: 3/27/2015 4:04:36 PM
SRINAGAR, Mar 26: Bahratiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday claimed that people who are raking up the issue of return of the mortal remains of Afzal Guru are misleading the masses and are doing so to be just in the news.
In a statement issued here today BJP spokesman Khaild Jehangir said: “People of Kashmir are not interested in non-issues as they want development, peace and prosperity. They are least interested in issues which have lost relevance.”
Jehangir said, “Times have changed and so have the people of Kashmir. Kashmiri youth consider Shah Faisal and Parvez Rasool as their role models. Youth don’t consider Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru as their role models.”
The BJP spokesman said that people are raising hue and cry in the assembly are doing it for the sake of publicity and nothing else. “They also know it very well that they cannot get the mortal remains of Afzal Guru back. Legislative Assembly is meant for raising the issues of people. It’s unfortunate that legislators rather than highlighting the issues which touch the skin of people are busy in deriving political mileage and hogging the headlines,” Jehangir added.
He said the politicians should read the writing on the wall and overwhelming participation of the people in the recent assembly elections should serve as an eye opener for them. “If politicians fail to adapt themselves to the changing situation and political scenario they would become a history,” he added.
