Teach Your Children Well..!

In a landmark judgement, our right towards freedom of speech was upheld and the draconian IT law 66A was struck down by the Supreme Court. This PIL was filed by a young girl, a law student, who's mother encouraged her to do so! Even as we congratulate this young lady for what she has done for the country, let us also congratulate parents who teach their children to stand for justice!
Teach your children well, was a song that used to be sung in the eighties, or was it the seventies.
Yes, teach your children to fight for their rights, not to be cowed down by bullies, but to learn how to fight them.
Very often I hear growls and shouts of anger from the youth, but they hardly sustain! It is bound to happen that youngsters will rebel against authority, that is how it is meant to be, and that same rebellion later turns into a boldness that is needed in this world.
But there are very few youngsters, who as youngsters take it farther than a growl or yell of anger.
That is where you parents have to teach your children well.
The news of the striking down of the horrible law made headlines in every single newspaper. How old was the girl who filed the case? Just twenty four!
She didn't just growl and yell, and wait for the morrow of adulthood; she took on the establishment today.
She didn't just go on the streets in protest, though protests too are necessary at times! No, she went many steps farther; she filed a case against the government of the land!
We know the risks one takes when one fights a government: No government fights fair. Suddenly false cases are registered against you, income tax officials come snooping, and the government uses all its arms and agencies to intimidate the one who dares stand against its might.
But you need to teach your children that stand you must!
Fight you must!
Use the correct method, you must!
Did you know that this law was passed in Parliament without even a debate on it? Those are the people who we elect, ones who will give up our freedom, because the issue was something they didn't understand, or they wanted control.
Teach your children well, so that as future citizens of this country, they will lead and take us forward, focused in the right direction.
Somehow you get the feeling, the present lot of leaders weren't taught too well..!
