Mir lambasts govt for failure to infuse sense of security

JAMMU, Apr 6: Lambasting the PDP-BJP coalition government for its ‘utter failure’ to infuse sense of security among the people, the State Pradesh Congress Committee President GA Mir said that the entire populace in the state especially in Kashmir, Leh , Kargil, Doda, Kishtwar, Banihal , Rajouri and Poonch districts are gripped in panic triggered by massive landslides and house collapse causing death and destruction to life and property.
In a statement issued here today, He said everywhere there is hue and cry about deaths due to landslides adding that the ‘inefficiency’ of the administration to deal with the grim situation has added to the woes of the victims. Mir ridiculed the PDP-BJP Coalition Government for its ‘failure’ to restore Srinagar –Jammu National Highway which has further compounded the problem leaving the people high and sundry.
He claimed that the government seems to be in deep slumber as it was irresponsive to the plight of the affected people.” The worst kind of water logging due to rains in various towns and city areas have made life of the people especially school going children miserable,” Mir said adding that the administration is watching the situation as mute spectator.
Expressing his deep concern over the massive destruction caused to fruit industry due to heavy hailstorm and windstorm in various parts of the state last evening, the President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, Gh Ahmad Mir has sought adequate compensation in favour of the affected farmers and fruit growers. He has assured that the Pradesh Congress Committee will fight for the cause of the affected farming community.
Mir said unprecedented hailstorm has played havoc to the fruit production affecting badly the livelihood of thousands of farmers who need to be compensated adequately for their sustenance. He said this natural calamity has destroyed almost the entire fruit industry, which is the main stay of State’s economy. He has enjoined upon the concerned officers of the agriculture, horticulture and revenue authorities to act fast to assess the quantum of colossal loses so that volume of compensation and relief cold be worked out at the earliest.
Mir also asked the horticulture experts to guide the farming community in this need of the hour. ‘All of us have to rise to the occasion and come to the rescue of the affected fruit growers and farmers,” Mir asserted.
He asked the concerned officers to deliver with a sense of social obligation adding the Congress party both at central and state levels would leave no stone unturned in this regard.
