Be humble, avoid being thrown out..!

Two months ago, we saw Delhi delivering a verdict which because of their infighting, we all seem to have forgotten. It was a verdict against a man who they felt had no humility. It looks like he has not learnt a lesson as he continues in the act of pin stripe suits, bearing his name, and flying everywhere but not solving the problems of his country.
However good you are, with whatever talents God has blessed you, to avoid being thrown out, you need to be humble. It all starts with thoughts that creep in:
I am the best.
I know all.
No one can beat me.
I do not need anybody's help.
When such types of thoughts exist in mind, it is a sign of complacency.
Such people think that their glass is full of milk and there is no space for anyone else. They forget that even a glass full of milk has a scope for one teaspoon of sugar, which can make milk sweeter.
Basically, complacency kills creativity and new ideas stop emerging.
Once you reach the top, it takes more efforts to remain there. For that, one needs to be humble. One should always be ready to make changes, learn new things, enhance knowledge, accept suggestions even invite criticism or feedback. Instead of that, if complacency sets in, one can be sure of sliding down.
To avoid the trap of complacency, develop more flexibility, humbleness, politeness and openness. Keep on learning more skills, enhancing knowledge, and adding values in whatever role you are playing (also by listening to others who have better knowledge)
Here are five tips to avoid complacency.
1. Be ready to be in a learning and listening mode.
2. Do not believe your press agents. Believe those who transparently and fearlessly critique.
3. Keep inviting feedback and criticism.
4. Keep reviewing strategies and do not hesitate to make corrections.
5. Do not be proud but always be polite and humble.
I hope this column is read by everybody, including the one who got a drubbing in the Delhi elections. Industrialists have started losing faith in him, and have even been quoted as saying that if his party were to stand today in a general election in India, it would not win even two hundred seats, that's a hundred and thirty five seats less than they won exactly a year ago.
Taking people for granted, never wins votes, humility does..!
