Naeem visits Dadasara to felicitate matric toppers

SRINAGAR, May 21: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today visited Dadasara, Tral to personally felicitate the two girls of the village, who secured 1st and 2nd position in the Matriculation Examination.
Coming from a humble background, Anika Shabir and Shaheera Shamim of Dadasara, secured 1st and 2nd position respectively in the matriculation examination. They are both students of Haj-Ahad Public School, Awantipora.
The Minister visited the residences of both the girls and congratulated them and their families for coming out with shining colours in the examination. He said these bright girls have not only brought laurels to their families but to their alma-mater as well.
Talking to the media persons during his visit, the Minister said that the students who excel in academics, sports or any other field are a great asset for the State and they need to be encouraged to achieve larger goals. “I am all for encouraging students to do their best and reassure that we are proud of them,” he said and asked the toppers to aim for civil services examination. He called for greater academic and extramural exchange between government and private educational institutions to inculcate competition and sharing of knowledge.
The Minister sought the cooperation of the people in general and the concerned citizens in particular to perk up the education sector. “I have visited a number of schools since I assumed charge as the Minister for Education and I know we have the best talent available in the Government Schools, both among the teachers and the students, who need the encouragement to achieve better results,” he said.
The Minister said that the Government is putting in all efforts to streamline the education system and bring focus back on students, their academics, extra-curricular activities, sports etc. He said various steps are being taken to create a sound academic atmosphere across all Government run institutions.
Various local delegations called on the Minister during his visit to the area and apprised him of the problems like dilapidated roads, scarcity of drinking water, installation of transformers and upgradation of schools. He assured them that their grievances would be placed before the concerned quarters for redressel.
The Minister ordered immediate setting up of library facility for Government Middle School Mir Mohalla and also assured to provide sports kit to the school.
Later, the Minister accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama and SP, Awantipora also visited Haj-Ahad Public School at Awantipora. He congratulated the school management and teachers for their efforts to achieve outstanding results in Matriculation. He said that such success stories act as inspiration for children belonging not only to the school but also the entire area.
The Minister requested the Principal of the School to adopt the nearest middle or high school in the vicinity and provide guidance and hand-holding for them so that it becomes a model school.
PDP Youth wing president, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra also accompanied the Minister.
