JAMMU, Jul 26: Former State Treasurer PDP and President Citizen’s Forum R K Chadha has demanded a CBI inquiry in Rs. 113 crore JKCA scam.
Forum requested the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to order a CBI inquiry in the JKCA scam saying Rs 42 crores out of Rs. 113 crore BCCI fund was meant for construction of a cricket stadium in Jammu. This amount was sent to Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association ( JKCA) for promotion of cricket game in this state particularly for construction of a Cricket Stadium in Jammu.
“Farooq Abdullah says that the funds received by the association had been pilfered by the office bearers of the association. Rs. 113 crore pilfered and swallowed by ordinary handpicked office bearers of JKCA who were hand picked by Dr. Farooq Abdullah the then Chief Minister of the J&K State, did not go down the throat of Jammu people, when Haji Yusaf was killed in the premises of Chief Minister Umar Abdullah “The people of Jammu are shocked to know that the Rs 42 crore Fund meant for a world class Cricket Stadium in Jammu is converted in to a Finance Co. to give loans to 50 individual office bearers and personal friends,” he said.
A case in which a probe committee took just one month to give interim report has remained pending with police for more than 3 years now and the floods of 2014 provided them opportunity to manipulate record and work towards hushing up the case, Chadha said..
In order to keep BCCI in good humor Dr. Farooq Abdullah the president of the JKCA was the only person who defended N. Sirinivasan the president of BCCI when his son-in-law GurunathMeiyappan had been arrested for his alleged involvement in spot fixing Indian Premier League matches. This he did to avoid any inquiry from BCCI for utilization of Funds, Chadha said.
