NEW DELHI, Feb 9 (Agencies): National carrier Air India has revised upward its domestic flight ticket cancellation charges by Rs 500.
After the proposed revised charges come into effect from coming Monday, the Government-run carrier would deduct as much as Rs 2,000 in case of "no-show" by a passenger at the time of a domestic flight departure, sources said.
The move comes days after budget airline SpiceJet hiking its ticket cancellation charges to Rs 1,899 from Rs 1,800 earlier.
"Air India currently deducts Rs 1,500 from the ticket cost if passengers decide not to undertake the pre-booked journey. However, it has decided to increase this amount by Rs 500 from February 16," they said.
The airline has already issued the circular with revised charges to travel agents early last week, they said.
Among all the domestic airlines, budget carrier AirAsia India has so far the lowest ticket cancellation charges at Rs 1,502.
Parents withdraw complaint after rape accused agrees to marry
MEERUT, Feb 9 (Agencies): A youth allegedly raped a 22-year-old girl in Pallavpuram area here with the victim's parents lodging a complaint after the accused went back on his promise to marry her.
However, the girl's parents have now withdrawn the complaint after the youth assured them that he would marry her.
According to the complaint, the youth had barged into the girl's house on February 10 last year and raped her. He had also filmed the incident and threatened to upload the video over Internet, police spokesman said.
The accused repeatedly raped the girl for a year by blackmailing her with the rape clip, police said.
The girl informed about the incident a week ago to her parents, who met the boy's family.
"During the meeting, the accused admitted his mistake and proposed to marry the victim. Both the families accepted the proposal," the spokesperson said.
On the day of the marriage yesterday, the boy backtracked on his promise to marry the girl, compelling her family to file a police complaint against him.
However, the accused has again agreed to marry her.
"The accused has again agreed to marry the victim after the girl's family filed a complaint against him.
"The victim's family withdrew the complaint," Satendra Kumar, station in charge, said.
