Ahead of Madhav-Mehbooba meet, BJP high command consults state unit

SRINAGAR, Feb 11: Ahead of the new government formation in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, BJP high command held a high level meet with its state unit, apprising it about the measures being taken to end more than a month long deadlock.
Sources divulged that the former deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh and other senior leaders of the state BJP participated in the meeting that was held in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss the ongoing political scenario and party’s alliance with the PDP, said a local news agency KNS.
Reports informed that ahead of BJP general secretary and party chief Amit Shah’s close aide Ram Madhav meeting the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti likely on February 13, the BJP high command held a closed door meet with its state unit at the head office in New Delhi.
Sources divulged that the feedback from the state unit was sought from the BJP with former deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh heading the state leaders.
Earlier, the top leadership of the BJP and the PDP in the state had held a closed door meeting at Jammu on Wednesday wherein the modalities, as per sources, for the new government formation were finalised. It was informed that the meet witnessed the participation of former CM’s close confidant Naeem Akhtar, Dr Nirmal Singh, Bali Bhagat, Syed Altaf Bukhari and Peerzada Mansoor.
Though the meeting was downplayed by both the parties, saying it was an apolitical one but highly placed sources reveal that the modalities of the new alliance are being discussed at threadbare.
