SVC seeks personal appearance of SMC Commissioner

JAMMU, May 27: State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has directed Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to appear in person on May 31, 2016 before the Commission in a case of construction of shopping complex, allegedly constructed illegally at Sekidafar, Srinagar.
Official reports said that the Commission, while taking cognizance of a complaint filed by Ghulam Mohammad Wani and others had asked the SMC authorities to submit the factual report to the Commission for examination and action.
Accordingly, the DVO of the Corporation intimated the Commission that after conducting preliminary inquiry into the case two officials of the Corporation have been suspended besides constituting a Committee of senior officers to enquire into the case further. However, the Corporation failed to submit the report to the Commission so far.
Taking serious view of the delay being caused by SMC authorities in submitting the inquiry report of the Committee, the Commission directed Commissioner, SMC to appear in person on next date of hearing to explain the cause of delay and other related pointes raised by the Commission in the case, reports maintained.
