Revision of circle-rates in Delhi

Kashmir Times. Dated: 7/30/2016 12:09:20 AM

Dear Editor,
Delhi government deserves compliments for revision of circle-rates in Delhi to remove anomalies where certain vested interests were earlier instrumental in getting circle-rates fixed according to their needs and requirements. Notable example was that of putting prime-most located Ferozshah Kotla Stadium in ‘C’ category with just rupees 159840 per square-meter, while it is a common knowledge that the prime-property located at city’s heart at Bahadurshah Zafar Marg must have been put in ‘A’ category with rupees 775000 per square-meter as circle-rate. What more, while circle-rates are fixed according to localities, it was the case where circle-rate was fixed for a particular institution namely Ferozshah Kotla grounds perhaps for giving benefit to the body occupying the grand stadium..
According to submissions made at Central Information Commission in petition-numbers CIC/DS/2013/C/000002 & 000003 on 11.01.2013, Ferozshah Kotla Stadium at Bahadurshah Zafar Marg is under jurisdiction of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), while chart of circle-rates in Delhi shows it in city zone which is in jurisdiction of North Delhi Municipal Corporation! Even Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has on record Average Auction Rate (AAR) for South Zone of Delhi at rupees 399889 and rupees 672927 per square meter for the year 2014-15.
New circle-rates should include Bahadurshah Zafar Marg rather than Ferozshah Kotla Ground in categories for fixing circle-rates that too to be placed in highest ‘A’ category. Enquiry should be made and guilty ones exposed and punished for such an anomaly aimed at deliberate attempt to exhibit Firoz Shah Kotla Stadium at such exclusive and low circle-rate in benefit of its occupants.
