Cong alleges embezzlement of over Rs 6-cr

Tikamgarh, Aug 25 (Agencies): Madhya Pradesh unit of Congress has alleged corruption to the tune of over Rs 6 crore in the implementation of MGNREGA and other Centre-sponsored employment schemes in the district.
"Corruption worth Rs 5 crore has taken place in Jatara janpad during the implementation of schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act," state Congress secretary Brijendra Singh Rathore said yesterday.
Further, corruption of Rs 1.30 crore had taken place in Tikamgarh janpad in the MGNREGA and other schemes, he said, adding Congress wanted a CBI probe into the issue.
When asked for comment, district panchayat's chief executive officer Ajay Katsariya said tough action will be taken against the guilty in such cases.
Tikamgarh sub divisional officer Manoj Thakur said the concerned sarpanchs, secretaries and sub-engineers of janpads had been issued notices in connection with the irregularities, and have been asked to deposit the embezzled money or face criminal action.
