Kho-kho, volleyball tourney organises at Surankote

JAMMU, Aug 27: A Kho-Kho tournament for local youth was organised by the Army with the active co-operation and participation of the locals on August 26 and 27 August at Galuthi in Poonch.
The final was played between Topa and Saaj team. The match was keenly contested and in the end Saaj team won the thrilling final.
The event witnessed the participation of eight Kho-Kho teams from Rajouri and Poonch districts. The Sarpanch of Galuthi village said that such populist measures are welcome that brings the locals closer to the Army as well as mainstream.
The event was attended in large numbers by the teaching staff, school children, parents, eminent citizens and villagers from the nearby villages. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the Sarpanch of Galuthi who expressed his gratitude towards the Army for the noble effort.
In another event, Army also organised Inter Tehsil Volleyball competition for Poonch district from 25 August to 27 August 2016 at Surankote. The competition was held to promote spirit of sportsmanship, encourage physical fitness and inspire the local youth to showcase their talent in the field of sports. The youth whole heartedly participated in the event in which all the teams put up a good performance in closely contested matches. Passion, enthusiasm and competitive spirit could be seen in all the matches. Four teams participated in the competition.
The final match was played between Haveli Tehsil and Surankote Tehsil a team which was won by Surankote Tehsil team.
The competition saw an overwhelming response from all the teams and spectators from near and far flung villages. The locals specially the youth whole heartedly appreciated the gesture of goodwill and bonhomie extended by the Army.
