Divisional level inter-district sports event begins in Poonch

POONCH, Aug 27: A divisional level inter district sports event of hockey and football was declared open here today in an impressive and colorful inaugural ceremony held at sports stadium Poonch today.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Mohammad Harun Malik, was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the divisional level inter district sports event for boys and girls of all age groups ( 14,17 & 19 years ). Speaking on the occasion, Malik congratulated the players for being selected for this divisional level inter district sports after successfully facing stiff competition in their respective districts.
Pertinent to mention here that Poonch district is for the first time hosting such a mega event of sports.
While declaring the game open in presence of huge audience of sports lovers, Deputy Commissioner said “It is not the win or defeat that matters for a sports person. What matters is the spirit of playing the game with honesty and dedication by following all rules and regulations.”
Wishing the players success during the competition, Deputy Commissioner said “I pray & also believe some of you may shine at the national & international level as well”. The first match of football was played between the teams of Ramban & Poonch.
