ADGP Hqrs VK Singh declares open Cricket tourney for physically challenged

JAMMU, Jan 20: All India Super Six T-20 Cricket Tournament for physically challenged cricketers began here today which was declared open by Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), V. K. Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, VK Singh said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has been undertaking various sports activities to hone the skills of talented youth and hosting of this 3 day cricket tournament for physically challenged is a step forwards in this direction. He said that specially abled sports persons deserve all support to refine their talent and boost their morale.
Singh disclosed that six teams from different states of the country viz Rajasthan, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and J&K have reached the super six and have now been put into two pools comprising three teams each. He said that final match will be played on 23rd of this month between the top two teams from each pool.
Singh appreciated the efforts of Armed Zone Jammu, for organising such a tourney in the winter capital and hoped that such activities would continue in future to encourage physically challenged sports persons.
On the occasion, guest of honour, MD JK Police Housing Corporation, AK Choudhary said that JKP said that it is our responsibility to guide the differently-abled people in every sphere of life and provide all assistance to them to ensure them a better future.
Earlier, IGP Armed, Shafakat Ali Watali, said that all the six teams are affiliated to Physically Challenged Cricketers Association of India which has many achievements to its credit. He said that the Association has introduced cricket ball instead of tennis ball unlike other associations.
Among others, the function was attended by IsGP, Yoginder Koul, Surinder Kumar Gupta and SA Mujtaba, DIG Armed, Alok Kumar, AIsGP, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood and Kulbir Singh, Commandants of Armed and IRP Batallions and other police officers.
