Recover 1000 codeine bottles, SSP says drive to continue
SRINAGAR, Feb 19: Continuing its efforts against drug menace, Budgam Police on Sunday received an input regarding transportation of narcotic drugs from Srinagar City towards Budgam town.
Acting swiftly on the information, a Naka was laid near Sheikhpora petrol pump.
During checking, a vehicle Mahindra load carrier bearing Regd. No. JK01D-2650 was intercepted & approx. 1000 bottles of codeine phosphate recovered from the possession of two persons namely Rashid Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Rasool Sheikh of Hazratbal Srinagar and Mohammad Aslam Mir son of Sonaullah Mir of Ichgam Budgam.
A case FIR No. 33/17 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act has been lodged in P/S Budgam and both the persons arrested, load carrier in question has been seized.
This consignment of drugs has actually been transported through a registered company to Parimpora Srinagar from Pitampore Delhi, however, challan reads item carried inside the packing as “Electric Motor” while as it contained Codeine phosphate. This is a new phenomenon of in a way “Have delivery system” of illegal drugs.
In second such incident, P/S Chadoora arrested two persons namely Hamid Rather of Hasipora & Zubair Ahmad Dar of Dalipora Nagam today in Chadoora area and recovered around 1000 capsules of banned drug Spasmo Proxicon and codeine phosphate bottles.
A case FIR No. 07/2017 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered in PS Chadoora and investigation taken-up.
