2 PDP workers injured in stone-pelting

SRINAGAR, Mar 19: Two PDP workers were injured at Chawalgam area of Kulgam district due to stone pelting on the party’s convention for Parliament by-polls today. However, the convention continued without any disruption.
Reports said that stones were pelted inside the Dak Banglow premises where the PDP workers had gathered for the convention amid tight security cover.
The convention was organised by the PDP MLA from Damhal-Hanjipora, Abdul Majeed Padder in Chawalgam. Also present in the convention were PDP’s rural development minister Abdul Haq Khan, PDP’s Rajya Sabha MP Nazir Laway.
Stones hit the heads of two PDP workers. They were hospitalized. The convention continued and finally concluded on scheduled time.
Doctors in the District Hospital Kulgam said that two persons with minor head injuries were treated in the hospital.
However, SSP Kulgam Shridhar Patil told media that no stone pelting took place on the convention.
“There was no stone pelting on the convention. It went on peacefully,” the SSP said.
