BJP MLA from Kathua suffers ‘poisoning’

JAMMU, Apr 16: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Rajiv Jasrotia was allegedly poisoned under mysterious circumstances at a house allotted to him by Estates department in Sector-D, Sainik Colony, here today.
However, the MLA noticed the mischief soon after drinking the ‘poison mixed water’ and he informed police.
Police has registered a case FIR number 49 of 2017 under section 328 RPC in this connection and detained MLA’s servant Makhan Lal for questioning at Police Station Channi Himmat. The MLA himself went to hospital where after minor treatment he was discharged.
According to sources close to MLA he brought four bottles of drinking water from the market and consumed two of these bottles. Today in the morning he had his breakfast and drank water from third bottle. He observed that the potable water was mixed with collin (poisonous liquid used to clean glasses) as it smelt bad and tasted foul. Using his tooth brush he immediately cleared the water from his mouth and tries to vomit. He then went to hospital where he was medically examined by the doctors and provided necessary treatment.
MLA Rajiv Jasrotia is living in Sector-D, Sainik Colony in a house provided by Estates Department. The house belonged to SSP Kathua Pawan Parihar.
He informed Police Station Channi Himmat and police seized the water bottle carrying ‘poisonous’ liquid. Investigation of the case is going on, police said.
